February 2007

I haven't been updating this very well. I had intended to post pictures of what we have been doing but my digital camera is on the fritz. Sometimes it works, sometimes I get purple pictures and sometimes it won't work at all. Aargh.

February is very chilly here. This morning on the way to work I noticed how white it is here. We have fog a lot. So the sky is white from the fog, the roads, yards, and everything else are white from the snow. The only color comes from cars and houses. It is very weird. However, I have gotten over my fear of snow driving. It takes a lot of patience to drive on 4 inches of ice. I am very good at it and am no longer as freaked out as I used to be. Toni had asked why I would want to move here with my hatred of driving in snow and now I can answer, "What hatred?"

The boys have both adjusted so well. Cody's report was all B's with a couple of C's. Last report card in Moscow he had D's and a couple of C's. It is a lot of progress for him. I am very proud of how hard he has been working. Cody keeps growing so fast that I don't know how much longer I can afford to feed him. He is now 5' 4 1/2 " tall! I wasn't that tall until 8th grade. Wow! He also is getting a mustache or so he says. I call it peach fuzz. He said he is the only one in the 5th and 6th grade with a mustache. I guess he must be that boy. We all knew one in school. He is pretty proud of it. Still, it's not dark enough to show up in pictures. He doesn't look like an ape man yet. Cody also has a bunch of boys he runs around with. He had his best friend, Rafael, spend the night last week end. Cody is also taking art classes on Monday after school. He has made two picture frames, a candle holder and a really cool journal.

Silas has made a marvelous turn-around and is paying attention in kindegarten and doing really well with learning his letter names and sounds. He likes school too. His behavior and attitude have come along way. He has also been singing a lot. He makes up songs all the time. His latest one just repeats these words but in varying beats "Everyone likes me because I'm cool" and then there is "Everyone likes me because I'm strong". Maybe he will have a number one hit someday. :)

Alan's job is going well. He is liking it. We all like the pizza that he brings home. My job is going well. I like it a lot. I am much busier than I ever was at Latah County. I have so many applications and permits that I have already lost count! I have quite a few evening meetings too. I have met many nice and wealthy people. It is humbling to be in a room with millionaires. Luckily, at most meetings, I am accompanied by other city workers who are middle class as well so it doesn't skew the wealth distribution in the room too much.

Our house still hasn't sold. I have my fingers crossed that it will soon.

We are going to the motor-cross races in another week as a treat for the boys. Obviously, it is not a treat for more. I am going to buy ear plugs to take with me. This coming weekend, we are going to Kalispell to see the monster truck, Bigfoot. It is supposed to be in town at a truck event. Silas will probably wet his pants when he sees it since he is in love with monster trucks.

We are mainly keeping busy and staying out of the winter cold by playing board games. We bought enough for the family for Christmas that we still have some we haven't opened yet. Hopefully it will keep us through spring...

I will post some pictures that I took since Christmas. I don't know when I will be updating with new ones.
